Heat treatment is a heating and cooling process of metal or an alloy in solid state with the purpose of changing properties.it can also be said as a process of heating and cooling off ferrous metals especially various kinds of steels in which some special properties like softness, hardness, toughness etc are induced in these metals for achieving the special function objectives.it consists of three main phases 1.heating of metal. 2.soaking of metal. 3.cooling of metal.
