The Near Eastern fire salamander or the Hebrew Salamander [2] (Salamandra infraimmaculata), in Arabic arouss al-ayn,[3] is a species of salamander in the family Salamandridae found in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.[4][5] Its natural habitats are subtropical dry shrubland and forests, often near rivers and freshwater springs. It is threatened by habitat loss.
