Heidelberg Police Department
Heidelberg Police Department is the biggest police Direktion in Baden-Württemberg and has about 1,500 personnel.
Heidelberg Police Department’s area of responsibility encompasses the Heidelberg and Rhein-Neckar administrative districts (except Ladenburg) covering 1,200 square kilometers with nearly 700,000 inhabitants, of which approx. 12 percent are of foreign origin. In addition, the city has over 4 million tourists per year.
Heidelberg Police Department is subordinate to the Karlsruhe Police Headquarters and has 10 regular police stations:
- Heidelberg Central
- Heidelberg North
- Heidelberg South
- Schwetzingen
- Eberbach (Baden)
- Hockenheim
- Neckargmünd
- Sinsheim
- Weinheim
- Wiesloch
In addition its central services branch controls the autobahn police stations in Walldorf and Sinsheim, the river police station in Heidelberg, the traffic police branch and the police dog section.
The criminal investigation branch has four central departments and five decentralized offices in Eberbach, Schwetzingen, Sinsheim, Weinheim and Wiesloch.
