Heina
Heina is a district of the municipality of Morschen in the north Hesse Schwalm-Eder district.
Geography
Heina is located on the right side of the Fulda Valley in a depression on the southern slope of the Wildsberg, in the east of the district at the foothills of the Knüll Mountains. Southwest of Heina run the Bundesstraße 83 and the Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover-Würzburg. The railroad line runs near the village through the Wildsbergtunnel.
History
The oldest known written mention of Heina occurred in 1299 under the name Indagine in a document of the Kloster Breitenau.[1] Further mentions occurred under the place names (in parentheses the year of mention):[1] Indagine (1316), Hayn (1346) and zum Heine (1465).
The village belonged to the court Morschen, which belonged to the Haydau Monastery. Since the Reformation Heina belonged to the Amt Spangenberg.[2]
Territorial reform
The municipality of Morschen was formed in the course of the territorial reform in Hesse on 1 January 1974 by virtue of state law through the Zusammenschluss of the previously independent municipalities of Altmorschen, Heina, Konnefeld and Neumorschen. Previously, the municipalities of Binsförth (on April 1, 1972), Eubach (on July 1, 1971)[3] and Wichte (on 31 December 1971) were incorporated into the municipality of Altmorschen eingemeindet. Altenmorschen became the seat of the municipal administration.[1][4] Simultaneously with the merger to form the municipality of Morschen, it changed to the newly formed Schwalm-Eder district.[5] For all former communities of Morschen, Ortsbezirks with Ortsbeirat and Ortsvorsteher were formed according to the Hessische Gemeindeordnung.[6]
