Heinz-Michael Mayer (born 30 April 1954) is a German orthopedic surgeon and neurosurgeon specializing in spine surgery and minimally invasive spinal procedures. He is the editor of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery – A Surgical Manual.[1]
Career
Mayer studied medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where he completed his state examination and doctoral degree. He completed specialist training at the Free University of Berlin, with training in orthopedics at the Oskar-Helene-Heim in Berlin and in neurosurgery at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital.
From 1998 to 2019, he served as medical director and Chief of Spine Surgery at Schön Klinik München Harlaching.
Work
Mayer has published on percutaneous endoscopic discectomy, minimally invasive anterior lumbar interbody fusion, lumbar spinal stenosis, cervical disc replacement, and lumbar total disc replacement.[2][3][4][5][6]
