Background

The Grape Street Pub Philadelphia PA 2001

Bullet Head has never been in a studio prior to his Hell in High Water album. He wrote the album in 2001 after surviving being shot in his left temple by a unknown gunman in Philadelphia. His entire being became over whelmed with song lyrics and poetry. It was like his father was writing through him for he has never before wrote song lyrics or poetry. Once he had enough material for an album he went to visit a good friend who owned a studio that many famous rock stars frequented. The engineer and producer of the Brickhouse Studio was Andy Kravitz "The Funky Drummer". Bullet Head called Kravitz and informed him that he was Jim Morrison's son and wanted to record a studio album. Andy agreed to meet up and see what he had going on. Bullet Head sang the entire 10 track album A cappella.

Andy recruited some talented musicians to compose the album that was just Bullet Head's voice. Scott Bricklin of the 80's band Bricklin, Mike Tyler a studio musician guitar legend he played with several people on MTV unplugged and a few others. Following the recording of the album Church of Man Records agreed to pick me up as a label. The album received some airplay on local stations mostly but Bullet Head wasn't pushing to be a rock star he was just happy to have gotten the album recorded and logged into the database he had future plans for his music and poetry. Although Bullet Head did put a few bands together under the name Bullet Head and play out at local Philadelphia clubs and venues. Notably The Grape Street Pub he played often.

Recording

Hell in High Water was produced and engineered by Andy Kravitz at Brickhouse Studio in Norristown Pennsylvania over about a two week period. The Circle is Complete, Streets of Flowers and Something Up My Sleeve were the first 3 tracks to be complete and put on a CD. Bullet Head shipped the 3 tracks CD to radio stations and record stores.Hell in High Water costs about $1,000 to record it was recorded on 2 inch tape on a sound board that is legendary. The sound board came out of Steven Tyler's studio in Conshohocken Pennsylvania where he and Andy Kravitz worked together often. Several legendary bands recorded on the same sound board The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Doors to name a few.
