The Helsinki Mets are a mainly youth baseball team in Helsinki, Finland. The Mets practice in the winter at Pallomylly, in the eastern part of Helsinki called Myllypuro. In the summer, the Mets practice and play their league games at Ruskeasuo sports field in central Helsinki.
Team Name
The team is called the Mets due to the fact that the players of the current team come from all over the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and are not centrally located in one part of Helsinki. The Finnish name of the club that runs the Mets is Helsingin Metropolian Baseball-klubi (Helsinki Metropolitan Baseball Club).
History
The team was started by Mika Sarjanen and Tony Jones in 2010 and formally organized into its own club, Helsingin Metropolin Baseball-klubi in 2011.
