Henry (Harry) David Louis Mountbatten, Earl of Medina (born London, 19 October 1991) is a British peer, investor and the heir apparent of the Marquess of Milford Haven. He is in the line of succession to the British throne, behind his father, George Mountbatten, 4th Marquess of Milford Haven through his descent from Queen Victoria's second daughter, Princess Alice.[1]

Biography[edit]

Lord Medina was born in London on 19 October 1991 to George Mountbatten, 4th Marquess of Milford Haven and his first wife, Sarah Georgina (née Walker). He is a younger brother.[2]

His paternal great-grandparents, Prince George of Battenberg and Countess Nadejda Mikhailovna de Torby, were morganatic descendants of German and Russian royal houses. His great-grandparents gave up their German titles in exchange for titles within the British peerage, and Anglicised their family name from Battenberg to Mountbatten. Through his father, Lord Medina is a descendant of multiple monarchs including Louis II, Grand Duke of Hesse, Louis IV, Grand Duke of Hesse, Nicholas I of Russia, and Queen Victoria. He is also a descendant of the Russian writer Aleksandr Pushkin and a second cousin of the Queen.[3]

Lord Medina studied in Millfield between 2005 and 2009. He has a Private Pilot License.

Career[edit]

He is a director of London based investment firm Alvarium and the Chairman and majority shareholder in London based investment fund, Cazip Enerji Holdings Limited. [4] The fund's most notable and major investment is in Turkey, EnCazip, the leading energy prices comparison venture of Turkey, founded by the Turkish entrepreneur Çağada KIRIM. [5] [6]He is following the pathways of his father in business, who founded uSwitch.The company was sold to the American media firm E. W. Scripps in March 2006 for around £210 million ($400 million).
