Henry Bishop (priest)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Henry Bishop (c. 1793 – 10 April 1857) was an English priest and academic, fellow of Oriel College, University of Oxford.[1] He was the third son of Samuel Willson Bishop, a London merchant who moved to Oxford.[2]

Bishop was a member of the Royal Commission into the Operation of the Poor Laws 1832 which reformed the Poor Law system in England and Wales.[1] He died at Tunbridge Wells, aged 64.[3]

He should be distinguished from a different Henry Bishop, vicar of Ardleigh, of St John's College, Cambridge, who died in 1851.[4]
