Henryk Chan

Henryk Chan (also known as Haolin Chen) is a biomedical engineering researcher whose work has focused on wearable biosensors, electrochemical sensing, microfluidics, and bioelectronic medical technologies. He has studied engineering and bioengineering at the University of Sheffield, Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Cambridge.

Education

Chan received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield in 2024. He also undertook an exchange programme at the College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore, from 2022 to 2023.

In 2024, he began an MRes programme in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. In 2025, he began doctoral study in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.[1]

Research

Chan's research interests include wearable electrochemical biosensors, wound-monitoring biosensors, liquid-metal-based ECG systems, microfluidic technologies, and biomedical devices.He has been affiliated with research groups at Imperial College London, the University of Sheffield, and the National University of Singapore. His research experience has included work in neuromechanics and rehabilitation technology, biomedical robotics, and mechanobiology-related engineering.

Publications

Chan has co-authored peer-reviewed articles in biomedical engineering, wearable technologies, and microfluidics. His publications include work on liquid metal functionalisation for wearables and soft robotics, and microfluidic plasma extraction using spiral-channel designs.[2]
