Hephaestus Hand Version 3

The Hephaestus Hand is a New York based, business to business venture developing a low-cost, battery-powered prosthetic hand. The cost of this patent-pending prosthetic is currently 300 dollars. The price point is able to be so low due mainly to the advanced mechanism behind the finger movement of the hand, the less expensive material used to create the hand, and the fact that it is manufactured using 3D-printing techniques.

3D-printing individual pieces for the hand also allows the product to be customizable specifically for the consumer as well as the ability for any broken pieces to be replaced easily and efficiently. The goal of Hephaestus Hand is to help amputees and victims of war perform the necessary functions of everyday life.

The venture was started by Stephane Hatgis-Kessell, who created and developed the Hephaestus hand. The Hephaestus Hand team now currently has five other members, Phoebe Chen, Satish Natarajan, Ananya Malik, Ria Vora, and Preston Ho.

Throughout the creation of Hephaestus Hand, the venture received a number of achievements and awards. Hephaestus Hand’s founder, Stephane Hatgis-Kessell has worked with engineers at Columbia University. The product has been featured on Fox Business News Varney and Co. [1], BBC Three’s Brut Media, as well as Roker Media’s Bold TV. It has also won $1,000 from Quarter Zero’s Incubator program and has been receiving consistent funds from angel investors.

Hephaestus Hand is currently working on it’s Pilot Program. This program was created to help test the product for further feedback.
