Hermann Feierabend
Hermann Feierabend (1928 – 26 October 1995) was a German-Swiss painter.[1]
Feierabend was born in Rorschach, Switzerland in 1928. His father worked in Switzerland, but in 1943 the family was deported to Germany. That same year, aged 16, Feierabend began training as a painter, his talents having been recognized by his family and teachers. Needing to earn money to survive, he gave up his training the following year and was conscripted. He was captured, only being released in 1946. After his release, he completed his training as a painter and then studied painting, graphics, and stage design in Stuttgart. In 1960, Feierabend returned to Friedrichshafen, where he worked as a graphic designer in the advertising department of ZF Friedrichshafen. During this time, he became known for the brushwork in his watercolors. After his retirement, he painted full-time. He spent a lot of time outdoors in all weather, sitting in his car when conditions were too wet or cold. He died at age 67. He was married to Hanne Feierabend.[1]
