Hernani H. Razon, also known as Nani Razon, is a Filipino businessman who co-founded and currently leads GENCYS Group Inc., an e-commerce and enterprise-development company headquartered in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. The company began as Gencys Digital Trading Inc.[1][2] Razon started the business in 2021 together with Charlie Gengos.[3][1] He is also a co-founder of the Ecommerce Thrive Asia–Philippines Movement, a community initiative for online entrepreneurs.[4]
Career
Founding of Gencys (2021)
Razon and Gengos launched Gencys Digital Trading Inc. in 2021 after gaining experience selling online.[3] According to Razon, the company's roots trace back to a home-based operation reselling general merchandise bath products and kitchenware imported from China before it was formally incorporated that same year.[1] By December 2021, the company had introduced its E-Commerce Masterclass program, and its offerings later expanded to include business development support, consulting, and human-resources services for small and medium-sized online sellers.[1][3] Razon has pointed to process efficiency as a core focus of the business, citing the company's use of Lean Six Sigma techniques in its training curriculum.[1]
Growth into the GENCYS ecosystem
Over time, the company expanded beyond online retail into a broader group of businesses that it describes as an integrated e-commerce ecosystem, covering automation, warehousing, order fulfillment, manufacturing, and logistics.[5] As of February 2026, Razon reported that the group employed roughly 260 people and operated a warehouse, manufacturing capacity, and several affiliated service companies under a single organizational umbrella.[5] Company materials from 2026 have referred to Razon in differing terms as "Visionary and Chief Financial Officer" in some listings, while other coverage continues to identify him as chief executive officer of the group.[5][6]
Ecommerce Thrive Asia–Philippines Movement
Razon co-founded the Ecommerce Thrive Asia–Philippines Movement, a community that grew out of an internal training group at Gencys before being opened up to the wider public.[4] The movement holds gatherings for online entrepreneurs that have drawn as many as 1,000 attendees, organized around what Razon describes as three core values: profitability, sustainability, and leverage.[4] Discussing the state of Philippine e-commerce, Razon has said the country's digital retail sector lags behind Vietnam's "by about five to six years," pointing to the widespread local use of Vietnamese-developed automation tools as evidence of the gap.[7] He has called for greater investment in local tech-talent development as a way to close that gap.[7]
Partnerships
Gencys entered into a partnership with LBC Business Solutions, the corporate arm of Philippine logistics firm LBC Express, in 2023, aimed at providing delivery and order-fulfillment services to Gencys's e-commerce partners.[8]
In February 2026, GENCYS Group and JSR Group established a joint venture, Builders Hatchery Inc. (BHI), designed to help Filipino entrepreneurs bring consumer products including FDA-approved skincare and wellness lines to market by drawing on the group's existing manufacturing and logistics capabilities.[5][6]
Razon announced a further partnership in June 2026, this time with Alibaba Global Initiatives, focused on accelerating digital adoption among Philippine businesses. He described it as the first formal Alibaba Global Initiatives program to launch in the Philippines, with a stated goal of guiding at least 1,000 local businesses through digital transformation over a three-year period. He also indicated the company was preparing to expand its presence into Silicon Valley.[2]
Views
Razon has publicly argued that vision and service to the entrepreneurial community rather than profit alone are what sustain an e-commerce business over the long term. He has framed Gencys's broader mission as passing on the systems and practices that took the company from a home-based venture to a multi-company enterprise.[1][5] On the growth of Philippine e-commerce more broadly, he has said the industry needs "a longer-term view instead of just chasing profit" to build businesses that last.[4]
