A high-speed elevator is an elevator that moves faster than regular elevators. High-speed elevators are common in high-rise buildings and towers such as skyscrapers and observation towers, and in mountains.
Since 2017, the fastest high-speed elevators in the world is developed by Hitachi housed by the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre in Guangzhou, China. It's top speed is 21 m/s (69 ft/s). Previous record holders were Mitsubishi Electric's high-speed elevators in the Shanghai Tower (2016-17) and Toshiba's high-speed elevators in Taipei 101 (2004-16).
