Hindu Rao Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital in North Delhi, India. It is operated by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation. Currently it has 832 beds.[1]
History
It was founded in 1911 by the British Resident Sir Edward Cole Brook, at the site of the house (Bara) of Hindu Rao, a Maratha nobleman, the brother-in-law of Maharaja Daulat Rao Scindia of Gwalior, and the brother of Baiza Bai, the regent of the Indian princely state of Gwalior.
Originally a 16-bedded small nursing home, the Delhi state government converted this into a General hospital with 127 beds in 1951. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation took over the hospital in 1958.
