Hira (Hee-ruh) Ambrosino is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Fumi Yoshida in the AMC Television series The Terror, and as Tori Narita on Days of Our Lives. Ambrosino’s other work includes roles on the Jane the Virgin (CW), The Big Bang Theory (CBS), Angie Tribeca (TBS), and many others.
Early life[edit]
Hira was born in Nagoya, Japan, to two Japanese medical doctors. She lived in Baltimore, MD from ages 9-11 due to her father's work. During this time, she learned English as another first language. She returned to Japan after two years in Baltimore, and relocated back to the U.S as a 19-year-old college student.
Acting Career[edit]
Hira decided to pursue acting after studying classical music at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, receiving a M.A. in International Relations and American Politics from Johns Hopkins University, and having a successful career in litigation support. After working as a print model, working on a number of commercials, and playing small sketch roles on Conan and One Life to Live in NYC, she moved to Los Angeles and booked her first role just a few weeks after her move. Many TV and Film roles followed, with Hira consistently booking guest star roles on major series including Friends, House, Jane the Virgin, and The Big Bang Theory.
Most recently, Ambrosino appears as a recurring character, Fumi Yoshida, on AMC’s The Terror: Infamy.
Personal Life[edit]
Hira holds a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in Political Science from Towson University and a Master’s Degree in International Relations and American Politics from Johns Hopkins University. She is the mother of two grown children.
