Hiroaki Ohta (August 18, 1976 -) is a Japanese businessman and scientist. Currently co-representative of Waseda University Ventures (WUV). After working at the University of California, Santa Barbara, McKinsey & Company, etc., he joined ACSL Co., Ltd., a drone-related startup in 2016, and was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2018 as President. Ph.D. from Kyoto University.

After graduating from the graduate school of Kyoto University, worked as a researcher at ROHM Co., Ltd., and became an assistant professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University.
Transferred to University of California, Santa Barbara in 2008, and engaged in research on light-emitting devices (LEDs) in Professor Shuji Nakamura's group.
Participated in McKinsey & Company since 2010
In July 2016, he joined ACSL Co., Ltd. (former company name: Autonomous Control Systems Laboratory), a drone-related startup, and in December 2018, became the first drone-related startup to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Retired in March 2022 after serving as COO, president, CEO, and chairman.
Appointed Advisor to the Office of the President of Waseda University (Innovation Strategy) in 2021.
From April 2022, Co-Representative (General Partner) of Waseda University Ventures. Engaged in creating and investing in deep-tech startups based on science and technology.[1]
Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University (1999), completed the doctoral course at the Graduate School of Energy Science, Kyoto University (2004), and received a doctorate from Kyoto University (2004).
