Historical Dizadiz is located approximately 18 kilometres (11.1847 miles) east of Quchan, Iran. It has been built along the second branch of Atrak River. To the west, Abshouri, and to the east, Khalkanloo villages are located. It is almost 600 metres (656.168 miles) above sea level and located in the mountains.

According to the 2020 Census, the population of Dizadiz was 1,104, in 256 families.

The people in Dizadiz speak a type of Azeri language. However, some original Kurdish people immigrated a few hundred years ago and settled in Dizadiz.

Anthrology[edit]

The people of Dizadiz wear typical Iranian clothing. Elderly men normally have a Turban on their head. The younger people wear white or grey color, but the Sayeds (people who think they are grandchildren of Ali the first Imam) wear clothing of the color green.

Thatched houses were a typical type of houses were built in last centuries in Dizadiz. The ceiling was covered by thick sticks of food. In the modern day, the houses are mainly build using iron skeleton and bricks and cements.

Tribes[edit]

Two main tribes reside in Dizadiz. The majority are Turks, and the largest minority is Kurdish. However, the common langue is Azeri.

Geology and topography[edit]

Dizadiz has been built on the hill and valleys of Marl. It has been surrounded by two limestone formations in the south "Tava" and north "Gonai" with different structural dipping. The south formation shows almost 50-60 degree but the one in the north shows 80-90 degrees. The different dips probably is the reflection of at least two tectonic events during geological period. The floodplain on top of marl formation, cover the agricultural areas and also the fruit gardens. The river starts from "Emart village" on the east at the end of the valley, is sourced from the valleys of the mountains and shows approximate 5-10 metres width.

Spring[edit]

The spring starts on the 21st of March. The grass starts to grow and the trees starts with "tiny and beautiful" leaves, showing their life is starting.

Summer[edit]

During the summer the weather can be hot during the days between 9-16 o'clock. However, after 16:00, normally, a mild wind starts from North given a nice feeling being outside.

Autumn[edit]

In autumn, the leaves begin to turn a vibrant yellow and brown and the gardens are covered with leaves.

In the winter the weather gets colder. It snows many times each year.

  • Kabk Giran: Taking partridge in the winter and snow was a hobby for most of the men and boy teenagers during the winter. Normally, the people was divided into two group, one on the top of mountains making sure the birds to fly, and the second group at the valleys to capture the birds where they had head on the snow.

Mountains[edit]

There are two mountains in north and south of Dizadiz. The mountains in the south was named 'Tava' by locals. It is dipping 50-60 degree toward north. The mountains in the north is called 'Gonai' by locals and shows approximately vertical 80-90 degrees. The area between the two mountains has been filled by marl.

Zava[edit]

Zava is the most famous natural spring close to Dizadiz that is located to the north. The walking distance is 10-15 minutes from Dizadiz. It is surrounded by mountains and sourced from limestone rocks. The water was, and still is used as drinking water. Around 40 years ago, piping systems began brimging water to the village. In addition, it has been used for watering the gardens for decades.

Dagh Derman[edit]

Dagh Derman is a natural spring with amounts of water to be used for watering the gardens in Dizasiz and Abshouri. It is surround by mountains in both sides. Dagh Derman is considered one of the touristic areas in the Dizadiz village and is located about 2 kilometres north of Dizadiz. The walking distance is approximately 30-40 minutes. In 2019, a road was built for driving the cars to reach to Dagh Derman. Near Dagh Derman, there is a plain field used as a wrestling rink and a place for the children to play sports, like football, volleyball, and catch. There is a grass filed which normally in the new year was used as wrestling field and also the Around 20 years ago, a fish warm was constructed here by two brothers originally from Abshouri; late Mohammad Ataei and Mahmood Ataei.

Wrestling[edit]

Wrestling has been the traditional sport in the village, probably back centuries. Children normally learn Chokhe, a version of wrestling, which is very popular in Khorasan and in Quchan. Normally the first 14 days of the new years, children compete with their friends. Many professional wrestlers in Khorasan grew up in Dizadiz.

Football has been popular among children and teens in the last 20 years. There is a football pitch built more than 20 years ago, called Gahbrestan, where the first football games in Dizadiz were played. (For Americans: Soccer, not football).

Alak Va-Dolak[edit]

Alak Va-Dolak is not popular anymore in Dizadiz. It was very popular before 1990 in the village. Teenagers were playing Alak Va-Dolak in different part of the village.

Dizadiz is one of the oldest villages in Quchan. There are several remains of old villages. Most of them have been destroyed due to earthquakes.

There are two mosques in the villages and are named High and low mosques. Higher (bala) mosques was built in ....is located in "Ikharke Kocha" close to the old bath. An small river (normally no water in it) passing in front of the mosques. In old days the people was sitting in front of the mosques after the work for chatting.

Lower (paeen) mosques was built in ....is located in "take kocha" . In old days the people was sitting in front of the mosques after the work for chatting.

City of Bath[edit]

There are remains of old Bath in the center of the village. Bath probably backs close to 100 years ago, where there was a saloon and showers. It was a common place for chatting and decisions to be made in the past.

Schools[edit]

There are three schools in the area. Ebtedaei, an elementary school created in 1978, a middle school, and a high school. There was an old school located closed to Moradbakhsh, a religious grave. The building has been destroyed due to natural rainfalls and snow and out of usage after deciding to build the new school on 1978.

Military base[edit]

In Dizadiz, a military base named Pasgah Emarat, can be found. It is located on the main road. The old Pasgah was located in the middle of village, in the area called "Ikharke Koche."

Health house[edit]

The health house was built on 1980. The purpose of this health house was to train and guide the people for health issues in the nearby villages. The first responsible for this house was late Sobhan Barati, who died due to heart attack in July 2020.

Medical clinic[edit]

Dizadiz is one of the few rural villages in Iran with a medical clinic.

Wrestling field[edit]

The wrestling field is an important social meet-up destination in Dizadiz. An opening ceremony was held by inviting several state officials. In addition, most of the people living in the village attended for the opening ceremony to celebrate with family and friends.
