History On Wheels Museum

The History On Wheels Museum, Eton Wick, Windsor, UK houses a collection of vintage vehicles focusing on World War I and World War II. Star attractions are MacArthur's Cadillacs. It also has a collection of wartime items from the home front, such as General Allenby's Staff Car Pennant and original, Colditz Castle escape items such as compass buttons. One gallery holds a collection of military uniforms, both Allied and German. There are exhibits of air raid shelters, recreating how they would appear during World War II. There is a war time style cinema showing film of the vehicles in action. The museum started as the private collection of Tony Oliver; this was added to by his wife with possibly the largest collection of memorabilia of Princess Diana. It is a family-run museum and is only open to the public on special days; the family are on hand to talk about the exhibits. The family's main focus is for supplying vehicles for film and television, which can be seen in the ground including a large selection of dummy police cars from many eras.
