The Hitachi set is the upcoming sixth series of rapid transit rolling stock used in the subway system of Toronto, Ontario, Canada that will be used on the upcoming Ontario Line. They were ordered by Infrastructure Ontario after contract for rolling stock, signalling, operations and maintenance was awarded to the consortium in November 2022, with an estimated cost of CA$9.00 billion.[1]With the newly designed automatic signalling and installation of track beds and operation in 30 years, the trains will be scheduled to be built in the future by Hitachi Rail.

Project groundbreaking was held in March 2022 by mayor Doug Ford, with a estimated opening in 2031.[2]
Hitachi is the lead member of the Connect 6ix consortium, which will develop and build new rolling stock for the Ontario Line for the Toronto Transit Commision.[3]
Design[edit]
The newly designed TTC rolling stock will include features such as onboard wi-fi, charging stations, wheelchair areas, dedicated bicycle spaces, and continuous, connected railcars. The equipment will be capable of speeds up to 80 kph (50 mph).[4]
