Holotech Studios SRL is an Indie 3D computer graphics start-up company, created by a former game development team.[1] Holotech Studios' technology uses real-time character animation process, including 3D modeling to rigging and 3D animation.
Its maiden product is FaceRig.
History
Holotech Studios was founded at the end of 2013 by Dragos Stanculescu and launched an Indiegogo campaign to jump-start their project FaceRig and all its versions. [2] Soon after the fundraising campaign, the software was picked up by famous vlogger Pewdiepie, and following him were others like Jacksepticeye, iHasCupquake, Good Morning Mithical, etc. On May 14th, 2015, Holotech Studios announced the change of the tracking technology with one from ULSee Inc., a Taiwan computer vision company.[3]
Products
Holotech Studios' software allows anyone to become real time computer-generated characters via motion capture from a motion sensor or via direct puppeteering controls. [4] You can also use it to stream live on Skype, Hangouts, Chatroulette, Facebook.
The products developed by Holotech Studios are:
- FaceRig Classic with webcam based tracking for home use launched on the Steam digital distribution service on 7th of July 2015. Prior to this, it was available as a Beta via the Steam Early Access program starting with August 29, 2014. It has packs of free licensed characters like Octodad, Team Fortress, DreadOut, Live2D. [5] This version has the option to add hand tracking from the infrared camera from Leap Motion.
- FaceRig Pro is a DLC for FaceRig classic. It doesn't offer new features; it is designed for people who make significant ad-based revenue off their videos on Youtube or Twitch.[6]
- FaceRig Studio for commercial use was released in 2016.[7] This version has the option to add full-body mocap if associated with a Perception Neuron mocap suit.

- FaceRig for iOS and Android is a Freemium version. It comes with 4 free avatars, masks, and backgrounds. The user has to play each day to get avatars or buy them with money.[8] [9] FaceRig on mobile has over 2 million users.
