Holt Vaughn

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Holt Vaughn is a Writer, content producer, entrepreneur, and recording artist who has recorded with Grammy and Dove Award artists. His music has been used on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross.[1][2][3][4]

Early Work

Vaughn’s California Road Studios were named among the world’s hottest new recording studios by Mix Magazine in 2008.[5] The studios were designed by the late multi Gold and Platinum Recording engineer/producer Lawrence P. Swist, whose work included iconic artists such as Chick Corea, Spyro Gyra and Weather Report,[6] and studio design for Eastman School of Music, Simon Clime/Eric Clapton, Mick Guzauski (Mariah Carey, Daft Punk, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton)[7], and other leaders in the music industry.[8] Vaughn sold the studios in 2016.

In 2016, he divested himself from his primary business interests to lead The Theology Project, a think tank to shape and elevate the Christian church’s view of historic, orthodox, creedal theology. The Theology Project has been commended [9] by pastors, academics, business persons and laymen including Dr. Ray Ortlund (Council Member, The Gospel Coalition[10]; Lead Pastor, Immanuel Church[11]), Harvard Law J.D. Jeff Meyer (President, Baillie Lumber; Trustee Wheaton College[12]), and Dr. Jerry Gillis (Lead Pastor, The Chapel at CrossPoint[13]).

According to Vaughn, “The more work I did for Christian authors, publishers and churches, the more need I saw in my own life and in the Church for good theology."[14]

Vaughn has written and produced interactive Bible curricula and devotionals for leading publishers and best-selling authors used in thousands of homes and churches and also led workshops at National Religious Broadcasters and Christian Musicians Summit. As a young pastor, he helped plant two churches and has served churches and some of the world’s largest faith-based organizations, providing growth, strategic and organizational consulting.[15]

His former company, The Eastco Group, began as a tiny startup serving media ministries providing blank media while Vaughn worked to help plant local churches. While the churches grew, his business grew into a group of content production, multimedia packaging and marketing communications companies working with best-selling authors, rock and pop stars and leading publishers and businesses nationally. In 2001, before iTunes launched the iTunes Store[16], Eastco encoded some of the first digitally rights managed music (DRM), including new releases for Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston/Enrique Iglesias and albums for artists such as Bob Dylan.[17] In 2012, The Eastco Group pushed the creative limits of digital tablet technology, including app development for Fortune 500 company Dick’s Sporting Goods, creating an immersive experience with unique interactive features.[18][19]

Personal Life

Vaughn’s career began in his teens as a singer/songwriter/lead guitarist. His fourth album[20], 2015’s These Songs, Vol. 1[21] features a host of renowned artists[22], including 7-time Dove Award winner, Guitar Player Magazine readers' poll choice and 2-time Grammy nominated guitar icon Phil Keaggy[23], with whom Vaughn recorded electric and acoustic duets, and Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and Musicians Hall of Fame[24] guitarist Will McFarlane (Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Waylon Jennings, Joss Stone)[25], and 3-time Grammy winner vocalist Ashley Cleveland[26], Gold Record bass players Rick Cua (The Outlaws/2 Gold Records, 12 CCM records, 6 #1 singles)[27], and Jerry Livingston on bass, Tony Morra (Steve Vai, Taylor Swift, Steve Lukather)[28] and Ted Reinhardt (Spyro Gyra, Gamalon) on drums, and Art Halperin (who has shared the stage with Eric Clapton, Santana, and Joni Mitchell)[29] makes a cameo on mandolin. The album was mastered by Grammy-winning Richard Dodd (Tom Petty, Dixie Chicks)[30] of Nashville, TN.

Vaughn is currently working on a new music album as well as several new manuscripts, including works on theology and the arts, creedal orthodoxy and history. He consults with churches, authors and businesses and serves as a teaching elder at SimpleWay Church in Western New York[31] and as an Executive Board Member of Kingdom Bound Ministries[32], an outreach ministry that has reached over 1,000,000 people with the gospel through the arts and produces one of the nation’s largest Christian music and teaching festivals[33] held at Darien Lake Theme Park[34], as well as extensive outreach and concerts throughout the year. Kingdom Bound has been ranked by Business First Magazine among the top 25 nonprofits in Western New York for the distinction of dedicating 98% of expenditures to services directed at reaching people with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.[35]

Vaughn is married to Marietta, who was his high school sweetheart. They have two accomplished children, one who resides in South Carolina and another who is actively involved at Immanuel Church, Nashville, TN. Hannah is a Presidential Scholar and Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Honors program at Lipscomb University, and Evan graduated Belmont University with Honors on a double academic scholarship and received an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University.
