HomeProtect is a UK home insurance intermediary, based in Kingston upon Thames.
HomeProtect is the trading name of Avantia Insurance Ltd, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and was established in 2001.
AXA Insurance underwrites the company's policies and those of other insurers.
History
The HomeProtect brand was launched in 2004 and was one of the first home insurance products that could be bought online. This was achieved through the application of data [1] and technology to determine risk.
In 2005, HomeProtect was one of the first home insurance brands to be available via the price comparison websites Moneysupermarket.com and Confused.com.
In 2009, HomeProtect developed the first online quote and buy service for ‘difficult to insure’ customers[2] such as those with unspent criminal convictions[3] or who are foster carers; and non-standard buildings such as listed or timber-framed houses, and properties in probate or used as holiday homes.
In 2016, HomeProtect was among the first home insurance companies to provide affordable flood insurance through the Government-backed reinsurance scheme Flood Re[4].
Awards
HomeProtect won the Most Innovative Use of Data category at the Insurance Times Awards 2013[5]
HomeProtect won silver in the Best Rebrand from the Financial Services Sector category and bronze in the Best Creative Strategy category at the Transform Awards 2013[6]
Management
The current CEO, Mark Eastham, was appointed in April 2015 following ECI Partners’ £57m investment[7] in Avantia Insurance in 2014.
Shahid Mamood joined in May 2016 as Chief Financial Officer.
