History[edit]

2018: Formation and Wiltshire's Got Talent[edit]

After forming in September 2018, the band went on to compete in a local talent competition within their county called Wiltshire's Got Talent. They became the first act to win the competition in November of that same year, despite over 100 other acts entering. Their original songs were highly praised by the judges, one comment saying: "for a young group of girls to write and play all their own music from scratch is just such a huge talent in itself."[1] At the time, all members were fourteen years old.

2019: Night Traffic[edit]

Home From The Unknown spent 2019 developing their first single, Night Traffic, which was released on December 24th. The music video was later released on March 6th 2020, and received a warm reception for its artistic imagery and LGBTQ+ storyline. The song was written by Coleman, recorded at The Sound Emporium in Harnham and produced by Cerebral Sounds. Golden-Hann, Khan and Maule each co-wrote their own instrument parts for the track, respectively playing flute, bass guitar and ukulele. Coleman played acoustic guitar for the single, and provided the majority of the vocals along with Maule. The song itself was also received well by fans and its new audience alike, due in part to the complex harmonies between Coleman and Maule.

Throughout the year, the band had small scale performances, both together and as solo acts.[citation needed]

2020: Takeover Festival[edit]

In April 2020, Home From The Unknown are set to perform at the Salisbury Playhouse's Takeover Festival.[2] The event is highly anticipated by fans of the group and expected to be the first live performance of Night Traffic.[citation needed]
