Homesnap

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Homesnap is an online mobile real estate technology platform that provides real estate services to agents, brokers and consumers.[1] The company was founded in 2012 by Guy Wolcott and Steve Barnes and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.[2]

History[edit]

Homesnap was created in 2012 out of online brokerage Sawbuck Realty.[3] In 2012, company co-founders Guy Wolcott and Steve Barnes introduced Homesnap at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, TX where they entered the app into a pitch contest and won.[4] Homesnap drew the attention of Steve Case and received an investment from Revolution Ventures,[5] which allowed the company to expand its business to include Homesnap Pro.[6] In January 2017, Homesnap hired CEO John Mazur.[7] That same year the company entered into a joint venture agreement with the Broker Public Portal.[8]

Homesnap Pro[edit]

Homesnap Pro is a professional version of the Homesnap consumer platform built specifically for real estate agents to access their MLS data and work from their phones.[9] Homesnap Pro differs from the consumer platform by providing agent-only MLS data, the ability to message other agents and clients, email marketing features and an instant Comparative Market Analysis.[10]

Broker Public Portal[edit]

The Broker Public Portal is an industry-conceived initiative to create a public-facing search portal that provides consumers with real-time, complete MLS data and sends leads to the listing agents.[11]  In January 2017, the Broker Public Portal finalized a joint venture agreement with Homesnap making Homesnap the public-facing brand of the Broker Public Portal.[12] In January, 2018, the Broker Public Portal announced that it features listings from over 120 MLSs, representing approximately 800,000 agents.[13]
