Homie

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Homie (from "homeboy") is an English language slang term found in American urban culture, whose origins etymologists generally trace[1] to Mexican-American English from the late 19th century, with the word "homeboy" meaning a friend from back home. The term began with Mexican-American migration from Mexico to USA. Mexican-Americans would use terms such as "homeboy" to refer to people they knew before migrating North. The term was eventually shortened to "homie."
