Hoodman
Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Hoodman is an unofficial slang term and noun used in Ontario, Canada, more particularly used in Multicultural Toronto English spoken by the youth-subculture.[1] It is used as a common stereotype to refer to someone who occasionally wears sportswear and is typically arrogant, ignorant, rowdy, and chaotic.[2] Typically that person gets involved with crimes, drugs and alcohol use. The plural noun "mans" is also used in a similar context as well, with the only exception being that it's more specifically used to describe where that person's from.[3]
Though there isn't much speculation to point out about this noun, it's definitely not uncommon to hear the term being used a lot by young children living in the Greater Toronto Area region. Examples of this can be found either on TikTok and YouTube.
Derivation[edit]
The origin of the term "hoodman" is unknown; however, it is believed to have been borrowed from the equivalent word "roadman" used in the UK.
