Houst, formerly known as Airsorted, is a property management company based in London.[1] Founded in February 2015, the company now operates in 20 cities worldwide, and helps hosts manage the short-term letting of properties across platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, and VRBO. The company offers a package of services to hosts including listing creation, pricing optimisation, guest vetting, guest communication, property maintenance, house-keeping, and laundry services.[2][3][4][5] Houst has managed over 6,000 properties and 250,000 bookings.[6]

History

Houst was founded as Airsorted in 2015 by James Jenkins-Yates (CEO), Tom Jones (Former CCO), and Daniel Scott (Former COO).[7] In 2019, Houst’s CEO was listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for his successful entrepreneurship in founding the “world’s largest Airbnb management company”.[8] In January 2020, Houst rebranded from Airsorted to differentiate themselves from Airbnb, and to also reflect the increased number of platforms used by the company to list properties on behalf of hosts.[9][3]

In 2017, Houst disclosed that they had raised £1.5 million via a funding round led by Concentric, and raised a further £5 million in 2018 via a Series A funding round led by Pi Labs and Atami Capital.[10][11][12] Later in 2018, Houst raised another £2 million through a crowdfunding campaign, and raised another £1.25 million on Seedrs in 2019.[13][14]

In 2018, Houst began operating in Dubai and later acquired a Dubai-based competitor Sama Sama Holiday Home Rentals LLC in January 2019.[15] In February 2020, Houst also took over management of the UK accounts of their competitor Hostmaker, and also acquired part of Hostmaker’s non-UK operations across Europe.[16][17] This acquisition led to Houst managing an additional 750 homes in London, 250 homes in Lisbon and Barcelona, and 200 homes in Madrid.[2]

In July 2022, Houst was the first small or medium enterprise (SME) to undergo a restructuring plan under the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act (CIGA), enabling 300 employees to retain their jobs.[18][19][20]
