Hridoy Chowdhury (Bangladeshi:হৃদয় চৌধুরী) (born 28 February 1993) at Sylhet of Habiganj District in Bangladesh is an established poet, novelist and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient in the world of literature.

Literary career

Hridoy Chowdhury’s first novel was Tukai (English: Garbage Collector) in 2006, which won the first prize in a competition on contemporary Habiganj Sishu Academy. He wrote this novel while he had to go underground during the Phulkuri Movement.

Early days

Son of renowned politician Shahbaz Chowdhury and social worker Jomila Begum, Hridoy Chowdhury was born at Saudagortula in Sylhet of Bangladesh. He did his schooling in Upper Blue Bird School and higher secondary school at Habiganj High School. He passed his B.A. in English from Brindaban Govt. College in 2017.

He had joined Jatiyatabadi Juba Chatra Parishad, a leading student organisation of Sylhet at the age of only eighteen and became one of its prominent members during the Sylhet Speech and was imprisoned continuously in Sylhet for almost 11 days.

Family life

He is the husband of a former president and senior leader of Phulkuri Habiganj.
