Hristo Petkov Hinov
Hristo Petkov Hinov is a Bulgarian physicist, Associate Professor since 1988, working in the field of liquid crystals.
Hristo Hinov was born on 17.09.1941 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1959 school year he graduated his secondary education with honors for high results.
Hristo Hinov received a Master degree in Physics in 1967 from the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (Sofia, Bulgaria) with specialization in radio physics and electronics. He joined the Institute of Physics (now the Institute of Solid State Physics) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 1972 to carry out Ph.D. degree in 1980 and D. Sci. degree in 2007. Since 1988 he is an Associate Professor. He also earned specializations from the Institute of Crystallography (Moscow) in 1976 and from the University of Paris in 1979 and 1987. His most significant contributions are in the sphere of electro-optics of smectics, large-pitch cholesterics and nematics.
