Secretary of Interior Confirmation[edit]

After David Bernhardt was nominated to be Secretary of the Interior in 2019, then Counselor to the Secretary Hubbel Relat directed staff at the Interior Department's legal office and FOIA office to withhold public documents related to Bernhardt ahead of his Senate confirmation.[2][3] According to a report published by the Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Interior, 253 pages were withheld from the Department's February 2019 release, despite them being responsive to the FOIA request filed.[1]
