Hugo Emmanuel Guerra-Valdez (Born October 28, 1999) commonly known as Hugo Guerra is a current footballer who currently plays for the Albany Great Danes and has played for Kingston Stockade FC. Hugo was born in Mt. Kisco, New York in the Westchester area.
Guerras position on the field consists of playing offensive as he plays LW/RW/ST he is known to be a dribbler and cause problems when going one on one with a defender. He grew up in Brewster, NY where he learned to play soccer in his back yard for his intial first 5 years before playing organized football. He credits his playing style to dribbling contantly for fun and learned things by himself he otherwise wouldn't on a organized team.
Teams In 2010 Hugo joined FC Westchester a youth club which has produced many talents in the past including most notably Tommy McNamara of New York City FC in the MLS. He later on committed to the University of Buffalo to play division 1 soccer. As a result that year Buffalo cut some of its programs to save money. Russel Cicerone of FC Cincinnati who was drafted out of Buffalo in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft stated on Twitter "Allowing Coach Carmichael to recruit eleven young men is embarrassing. These eleven High School seniors with the same dreams, aspiration I had as an eighteen year old really crushes my heart."As a result Guerra did not have a team after High School.
In 2017 he was recruited again and was offered a walk on spot to the University of Albany who play in the America East Conference Division 1 soccer. There he thrived under head coach Trevor Gorman playing as Forward on the team. He recorded two goals and two assists and ended with six points tied for fifth most on the team. During the season he received America East Rookie of the week honors for Week #8.
