Education and Occupation
Dr. Hulikal Nataraj’s academic progress was hampered many times because of the family’s utter poverty. With many breaks, he still went ahead and completed TCH (Teacher Training Course) with the support of his elder brother. But he had to settle with a petty job of savory preparation and supplying them for special occasions. Though he felt bad about doing this job, he still worked at it as it gave him some sense of satisfaction that he was earning some money at least. One day one of his acquaintances came to his hotel for coffee and informed him about a teacher’s job vacancy, since he knew about his TCH course qualification. Nataraj decided to join but his mother was not happy as he had to go away from home. He convinced his mother and made arrangements to leave. He did not have money to travel by bus and he walked all the way from Hulikal to Doddaballapura, a distance of over 200 kms, to reach the school.
- He joined the school with great enthusiasm but faced non-cooperation from the students who refused to accept him as their teacher because of his disheveled appearance as he did not have decent clothes to wear. But, as the days passed, the students were highly impressed by his science teaching with experiments in a practical, simple and easy language to understand. On hearing this feedback from students, the board members of the school appointed him as a science teacher.
- Later, he continued his studies and obtained many degrees like BA (Psychology), MA (Kannada Literature), B.Ed. in Kannada and Hindi, Hindi (RBV) and Vidwat in Sanskrit.
- When he joined Swamy Vivekananda Primary School in Doddaballapura, a Kannada Medium school, it had just over 150 students. With his tireless efforts, he increased the number of students to a whopping 800.

The path of scientific thinking
- Dr. Hulikal Nataraj’s heart melts for those who become victims of the exploitation by Godmen. The motto of his life is to put an end to this belief in miracles and Godmen, which has spread like an epidemic, by leading people from the darkness of ignorance to the light of wisdom.
- Busting of myths started with experimenting at deeper levels to find out the truth. His Science background helped him in experimenting with the combinations of various chemicals and to observe the reactions. Gutsy, Dr. Hulikal Nataraj would stand next to the ‘Men of Miracles’, unlock the mystery behind these miracles and expose the Godmen right in front of people. In front of their eyes he proved that ‘Miracle’ is nothing but a small trick. He would call people from the audience to go on to the stage and showed them that how anybody could perform these so called “Miracles.” Every miracle had science behind it for Dr. Hulikal Nataraj. Time and again, he has convinced people that according to science things cannot be created from empty space.
- He became the talk of the town. General public started calling him to places whenever they came across such ‘Men of Miracles.’ Dr. Hulikal Nataraj has traveled the length and breadth of Karnataka and also across India to bring awareness among innocent people, whose innocence was being misused by the self-proclaimed Godmen to make money.
- Dr. Hulikal Nataraj went on and founded ‘Miracle Research Centre’ with a team of like-minded people. He worked day and night to burst the myths of miracles. He knew behind every miracle there is science. Here they conduct experiments at an intense level. Through this Centre, he has trained nearly 8000 people out of which some 40-50 people can perform and burst any myth at the same level like him.
- He urges people not to believe without questioning anything. He says belief in God has nothing to do with Godmen, they use magic and science tricks to cheat people and make money. He says “PROBE BEFORE YOU BELIEVE”. He tells people it is only their weakness of mind that gives power to these so-called miracle men, a way to sneak into their minds and thereby acquire control over them.
- He performs tricks in front of them and shows how idols of God from the mouth or ornaments with the movement of hand or water from an empty vessel can be brought out. These are nothing but cheap tricks.
- He would hide himself behind bushes or sit on the top of water tank through the nights, with camera in hand, to find out the truth behind the incidents like ‘sudden breaking of fire’ inside a house or in some other place or ‘closing of door’ in an empty house.
- He kept his life at risk and buried himself inside 4 feet by 6 feet dug pit to expose the secret behind the “Sajeeva Samadhi” miracle.
- He has even run the burning fire on his body, burnt camphor on the palms and tongue to prove that even that also is a trick. He showed them to prove that such tricks can be done even when a person is not in a possessed state. On several occasions such adventures have resulted in minor burns on his body.
- He has exposed more than 2000 types of miracles and has proved the godmen to be fraud with scientific experiments and reasoning:
Here is a list of some of them: The below-mentioned miracles were performed by so called godmen to cheat innocent people and earn money by creating fear in their minds:

This created a stir not only in Karnataka but across the nation. This put an end to the people’s exploitation, who cheated common public in the name of the miracles. People started to identify the difference between the real God and Godmen and not to believe in miracles which are just science and tricks to make money in the name of God.
- Dr. Hulikal Nataraj knew well that the adverse effects of childhood traumas, family pressures on children and many other phobias definitely would lead to some unexpected psychological disorder.
