HungerStation is an online food ordering platform in the Middle East. It operates in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Users can order from over 10,000 restaurant partners including brands such as Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Subway, as well as local eateries from different cuisines.
History
HungerStation was co-founded by Ebrahim al-Jassim (CEO) and Sami Al-Halwa. Work began on the site in March 2012, and the site initially started to provide a number of services to a number of cities in the Kingdom. The site began to expand continuously to facilitate demand services, providing a menu for food that includes all types and providing an important advantage: dealing with the application directly without the need to contact the restaurant. Payment on the app is made with secure payment methods, either by credit cards.[1] [2]
Business
The site has provided customers with the advantage of collecting all restaurant menus in one place so the user can request more than one order from different restaurants. It also provided users with a search for restaurant numbers and menus in each restaurant. The application provides its services in many regions throughout the Kingdom and includes sites dedicated to Indian, Mexican, Egyptian, Saudi, Italian, Arabic, and Asian cuisine, drinks, a seafood section, and a Turkish kitchen section, along with a number of restaurants devoted to barbecues only. The site won the admiration of many people in Saudi Arabia, especially as it enables customers to order food from many restaurants by cell phones and via the website.
Operation
Restaurants on HungerStation benefit from an online ordering presence and it is an alternative to telephone orders and pickup options. HungerStation users have access to thousands of restaurants according to the user’s location and the restaurants in the area, while filtering by cuisine, ratings, delivery time, minimum order value, payment options, or restaurant name. Placed orders are sent to the restaurant’s point-of-sale machines, processed, and then delivered to the customer’s address. The service is free to users without any charges. However, a variable amount of delivery charges may be incurred depending on the restaurant receiving the order.
