Husein M Saleh (Arabic: حسين م صالح; born 1 May 1993) is a Lebanese-born Palestinian engineer, researcher, writer, and author. He is known for his writings on sectarianism in Lebanon, freedom of expression, civil rights, and opposition to capital punishment.
Saleh has contributed articles to several Arab secular and progressive platforms, including Al-Hiwar Al-Mutamaddin,[1] the Secular Studies and Research Center in the Arab World (SSRCAW),[2] and the Right to Life Center Against the Death Penalty.[3]

Saleh was born in Lebanon to a Palestinian refugee family. He studied telecommunications engineering in Lebanon. His writings frequently address issues concerning political participation, civil liberties, and the social conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

Entrenched Sectarianism in Lebanon
In 2017, Saleh published Entrenched Sectarianism in Lebanon (Arabic: الطائفية المتغلغلة في لبنان), a study examining sectarianism and the Lebanese confessional political system.[4] The book was reviewed by several local cultural columns discussing secular transitions in contemporary Lebanese society.[5]
The work discusses the relationship between sectarian politics, social division, economic instability, and political identity in Lebanon, and advocates the establishment of a civil state based on equal citizenship.
Arrest
On 1 April 2019, Saleh was arrested by Lebanese authorities in connection with a Facebook post advocating diplomatic approaches to regional conflicts and rejecting violence. According to media reports, he was accused of undermining internal security and incitement against the government.[6]
The incident received local media attention and was discussed in relation to freedom of expression and the status of Palestinians in Lebanon.[7] Human rights organizations in Beirut condemned the detention, highlighting the expanding crackdown on online speech and digital activism in the country.[8]
