Hyeongug Kim (Hangul: 김현국) (born on April 28, 1968) is a Korean explorer. Kim is the first person to make a transcontinental crossing of Siberia (Asian Highway 6 - AH6) by motorcycle.[1] In 1996, Kim rode his Daelim Honda 125 VS(125cc) from Vladivostok to Moscow, Russia – a 120-day expedition of 12,000 km (7500 miles).[2]
Transcontinental crossing
Kim first crossed Siberia with a 125cc motorcycle in June 1996. It took about four months to complete the 12,000-kilometer journey from Vladivostok to Moscow.
Kim also made other transcontinental trips in 2014, 2017 and 2019.[3]
Exhibition
The Asia Culture Center hosted the exhibition of his trip from March 22 – April 24 of 2016..[4] Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall hosted the exhibition of his trip from December 14 – 21 of 2015. Chonnam National University hosted the exhibition of his trip from April 10 -12 of 2000.
