I-Sing World

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

i-Sing[1] is a worldwide singing competition currently headquartered in Singapore. Originally started in 2014 with 13 Asian countries then it blew up to 32 countries from all over the world in 2015. In 2016, the Asian finals was held in Macau with 16 participating countries. In 2017, the competition title was officially renamed to "i-Sing".

The concept of the competition is to find singing talents all over the world ages 16 years old and above drawn from a series of rounds from each participating country. As of March 2017, i-Sing has over 40 participating countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Macau, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, Panama, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Austria, Ireland, Germany, France, USA , and Canada. The winners from each country called "Country Champions" will be sent to the World Finals year after year to compete for the i-Sing World Champion title for solo and duet category. Winners receive cash prizes, product prizes, a roundtrip airfare and accommodation to the World Finals in the succeeding year, and a single to be produced by i-Sing Management.

i-Sing is held in different parts of the world. A licensed Country Partner organizes the online and onsite auditions on the first quarter of the year. By August to early September, each participating country holds their Country Finals to determine the singer who will represent their country to the World Finals.

i-Sing held their first World Finals on September 28, 2017 to October 1, 2017 in Yangon, Myanmar with a total of 34 solo singers and 8 duet pairs. Jonatan Calleja[2] from Spain was hailed the first ever i-Sing World Champion for the solo category. Siblings, Zedrick[3] and Zhaira[4] San Diego, on the other hand, took home the i-Sing World Champion title for the duet category. Both champions will be sent to Paris, France for the 2018 World Finals.

Selection Process & Format[edit]

Each season begins with auditions held in each participating country. By the middle of the year, participants who passed the auditions will go thru qualifying rounds depending on the local organiser. To determine the representative or "Country Champion," each country will hold their Country Finals. Country Finals consists of two rounds for both solo and duet category.

For the first round, all singers will sing their first song choice in any language. Scores will be tabulated to determine the top scorers who will move on to the second round. For Round 2, all top scorers will sing their second song choice in any language. Final scores are tabulated to find out who will be the finalist to represent the country in the world finals.

World Finals Format[5][edit]

Year after year, country champions are sent to the World Finals to compete for the i-Sing World Champion title. World Finals are arranged as a four-day package - first day as a Welcome Party or Gala Dinner and the following three days for the actual competition.

There will be a total of four (4) rounds for both solo and duet category. All singers will participate in the first two rounds and will be judged based on the above-mentioned official criteria.

•        ROUND 1 (Any language) – all solo and duet singers will sing their first song in their chosen language.

•        ROUND 2 (Battle of the Countries - Elimination) – For both categories, each singer/pair will be battling with another country. The battle pairs will be determined using an Electronic Randomizer. Each singer/pair will sing a song in the language of the country they are representing. The song must be a maximum of 3 minutes.

•        ROUND 3 (Any language – Elimination) – The winning singers from the battles (Round 2) will advance to third round where they will sing their third song in their chosen language in full duration.

•        FINAL ROUND – Top 15 from each category will be chosen. Based on the Round 1 and Round 2 scores and panel deliberation, three (3) wildcard singers from each category will be chosen to compete along with the Top 15. All scores will reset to zero. Top 15 + 3 Wildcard singers = TOP 18 of both categories will sing their final song.

The final round scores will determine champions, 1st and 2nd runners up from each category.
