i3D.net (/aɪθriːdiːdɒtnɛt/) is a managed hosting provider that supplies IaaS (infrastructure as a service) services such as bare-metal servers, colocation, CDN (Content Delivery Network), IP (Internet Protocol) transit, and bare metal cloud. In addition to compute resources, the company offers anti-DDoS, anti-cheat software, a game hosting orchestrator, and a game hosting platform.
The hosting provider specializes in the video gaming.[1], real-time communication (RTC) and enterprise IT market and manages servers and infrastructure for Electronic Arts (EA)[2], Ubisoft, Discord, Reset[3], among others.

i3D.net was founded in 2002 in Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands and its infrastructure spans 45+ locations on 6 continents with almost 10k IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes[4]
Peering[edit]
i3D.net is part of the Border Gateway Protocols (BGP) open peering community.[5] The network links with internet providers on internet exchanges, including the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), DE-CIX, PTT São Paulo, Neutral Internet Exchange (NL-ix) and London Internet Exchange (LINX), which places i3D.net in the top 20 of the best connected ASNs.[6]
The company's VP of Network, Martijn Schmidt, has contributed to the creation of a technical standard for computer networks and co-authored the technical document RFC 8195[7], which defines the set of rules and guidelines for using BGP Large Communities in production networks.[8]
Data centers[edit]
A portion of their compute resources are housed in the 3500 m2 Smartdc data center[9] in Rotterdam and Heerlen.
Sustainability[edit]
i3D.net is aligned with sustainable corporate goals for environment-friendly practices, and its daughter company Smartdc uses waste heat to heat the UNESCO world heritage site the Van Nelle factory, saving 800,000 m3 of gas every year.[10][11]
Acquisitions[edit]
In 2018, i3D.net bought the company MyInternetServices.com LLC growing its revenue and presence in the United States.[12]
In 2021, i3D.net bought the company Gameblocks which added the anti-cheat software FairFight to its gaming product portfolio.[13]
Acquisition by Ubisoft[edit]
On November 30, 2018, the company announced that it was acquired by French game publisher Ubisoft Entertainment.[14] According to founder and Managing Director Stijn Koster, this decision was made to "greatly enhance our global reach while continuing to function as an independent managed hosting provider for gaming companies and for a broad range of organizations.”[15]
