The International Center for Agribusiness Research and Education (ICARE) was created in 2005 by Texas A&M University as a component of the Armenian National Agrarian University. The foundation was established in Yerevan, Armenia and is a non-governmental and non-commercial organization. [1] (Armenian: Ագրոբիզնեսի հետազոտությունների և կրթության միջազգային կենտրոն)[2]
ICARE has three departments: the Agribusiness Teaching Center (ATC), the Agribusiness Research Center (ARC), and the EVN Wine Academy. [3] The foundation's funding is greatly provided by USAID through the InnovATE/Armenia project as well as the USDA, GUZ, SDC, EU, and private sources. [4]
Agribusiness Teaching Center
The Agribusiness Teaching Center (ATC) was developed in cooperation with the Armenian National Agrarian University, Texas A&M University, and the USDA.[5] The ATC offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in agribusiness. All classes are taught in English and the programs include internship and Erasmus options. [6]
Undergraduate of Agribusiness
The Undergraduate of Agribusiness (UAB) program at the ATC is a two-year program taught in English with specialization in Agribusiness and Food Industry Management. [7] The program offers internship and Erasmus opportunities.[8]
Masters of Agribusiness
The Masters of Agribusiness (MAB) at the ATC is a two-year program and thesis degree taught in English. [9] The business and quantitative courses are based on curriculum at Texas A&M University.[10]
Agribusiness Research Center
The Agribusiness Research Center (ARC) is a department at ICARE. ARC is responsible for implementing research projects in the Armenian agribusiness sector. Some ARC partners include USAID, World Bank, and GIZ. [11]
Recent publications of the Agribusiness Research Center have been focused on cooperatives in Armenia as well as Armenian cooperative policy. [12]
EVN Wine Academy
The EVN Wine Academy is an educational department at ICARE in partnership with Semina Consulting, [13] providing an Enology and Wine Business Certificate Program as well as short courses and masters classes. [14] The 18-month Enology and Wine Business Certificate Program is taught in English and is partnered with Germany’s Geisenheim University, providing a double certificate. [15] The facilities at the EVN Wine Academy include a wine laboratory as well as wine tasting room. [16]
