ICE-CREAM is a narrative podcast written and created by Adam Murciano & Adam Blanford. It debuted on September 26, 2022, and released episodes weekly on Mondays through October 31, 2022.[1] It is a production of the audio fiction production company 911 Podcasts.

Premise
When Elgin Foster spends the summer of 1988 in suburban Arizona he begins to witness from his bedroom window a string of children being abducted by the local ice cream man, whom the neighbors dub "Mister Handsome" due to his clean cut, porcelain doll-like looks. Nobody believes Elgin, not even his own Dad, so he and neighbor Olivia launch their own investigation into the ice cream man and what they begin to uncover is gruesome, horrific and downright disturbing...[2]
Production
Production began in late June, 2022 with writing and casting complete by mid-July of that same year. Recording took place during the last week of July, 2022 and was scheduled for 5 days in Vancouver, B.C. but only took 4 days due to how smoothly production went. A pickup day took place in Toronto, Ontario in early September (Episode 4), which was a flashback episode containing different actors.[3]
Rollout and Launch
ICE-CREAM was officially announced on the 911 Podcasts Twitter page on September 1, 2022[4] with the official trailer premiering exclusively on the Apollo Podcast App "Creators Showcase" on September 5, 2022.[5] The trailer officially became public on September 11, 2022 with the series premiering later that month, on September 26, 2022.[6] New episodes aired weekly with the 6th and final episode airing on Halloween.[7]

Reception
ICE-CREAM premiered with glowing reviews. In its 1 month of airing, it surpassed 10,000 global downloads, it was listened to in over 50 countries,[8] and reached #1 on the GoodPods "All Fiction" and "Drama" charts.[9][10] In just 3 weeks it had over one hundred 5 star reviews on Spotify[11] and called "Fantastic & Exciting" by Tribeca Film Festival. It was featured on the homepage on "The End" [12]as a favorite pick and under the GoodPods "Editor Picks".[13] Soda & Telepaths said "This podcast is the closest thing we'll ever get to an audio version of IT. It's sinister, haunting and will leave you guessing what happens next."[14] ICE-CREAM was nominated for an AVA (Audio Verse Award) only 3 episodes into its rollout for "Best New Podcast Series".[15]
Promotion
Creator and Star of ICE-CREAM, Adam Murciano went on various podcasts to chat about the project such "Canadian Made",[16] "Good Things with Matt Wells"[17],, "Window Chats with Robyn"[18] , "Blood in the Snow", and most recently the Sirus XM show "The Breakdown"[19] . Each week ICE-CREAM would roll out a visual element, usually an aesthetic photo that would feature a clip from that week's episode. However, for episode 5, a classic 1980s informercial was created and released for that week.[20]
