The company is part of the Klocke Group. In 2020, they employed about 1500 people and generated sales of €213 million. The company continuously invests up to 20 percent of annual sales in production facilities.[1] IDT is headquartered in the BioPharmaPark in Dessau-Rosslau, Germany. The production site in Rockville, Maryland in the USA, is involved in contract development and manufacturing for clinical trial materials Phase I to II.[2] The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) have successfully inspected the company.[3]

In context of the COVID-19 pandemic, IDT Biologika played a greater role, firstly because it has been involved in the development of its own vector vaccine since October 2020.[4][5] On the other hand, the company had been involved in the production of different Covid vaccines.[6][7][8]
