IP-SM Gateway
IP-SM Gateway, IP-SM-GW is an IMS Application Server which handles SIP based messaging services for IMS subscribers. In addition, the IP-SM-GW will interact with the legacy SMSC using MAP signalling in order to allow IMS to SMS conversion and distribution.[1] IPSM GW enables operators to efficiently perform SMS delivery services for next-generation IP networks that integrate with legacy networks.[2] The IP Short Message Gateway (IP-SM-GW) implements transport layer interworking for SMS over IP. It is based on 3GPP TS 24.341[3], and implements suitable SMS interworking as part of GSMA IR.92 version 9.0[4]
