IRIS Software Group

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

IRIS Software Group is a UK technology company with headquarters in Datchet, Berkshire. It develops, supports and sells computer software and services primarily for the accountancy industry, but also to other sectors. It comprises Accountancy, Education, and Human Capital Management divisions. It is best known for producing fully integrated products for accountants. The IRIS Accountancy Suite is among the most popular pieces of software that the firm produces.

IRIS was founded in 1978 by accountant David Ranger Guest, with the original name being Transaction Technology (https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/03193619). Mr Guest was unhappy with the accounting systems of the time and sought to create one which automated key processes. IRIS, which stands for Incomplete Records Information Systems, was initially the name of the product before later being adopted as the company name. The focus of the business to begin with was Final Accounts. It began life in the days of DOS, green screen, dot matrix printers and before a mouse was used to control a computer.
