ITWorx

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

ITWorx is an Egyptian IT service management company headquartered in Cairo.[1] The company provides governments[2] and companies with cloud-based and on-premise software[3] in addition to education solutions[4][5] through ITWorx Education[6][7][8][9][10], a division that was established in 2003.[11][12]

History[edit]

ITWorx was founded by Youssri Helmy and Wael Amin in Cairo in 1994.[13] Helmy met Wael Amin and was excited that Microlabs, a company Wael started earlier, developed Microsoft Windows applications and it would complement his Apple applications.[14] Together, they started ITWorx as a software outsourcing company.[15] The company received an investment from the Commercial International Investment Co. and the International Finance Corporation in 2001.[16]

In 2001, ITWorx Headquarters was inaugurated in the free zone in Cairo.[17]

Acquisition[edit]

In 2000, ITWorx acquired online food delivery platform Otlob after seven months of its launch, then sold it a year later.[18][19] In January 2008, ITWorx sold a 79% stake in its business to a consortium of investors.[20] The acquisition was made by EuroMena Fund, Venture Capital Bank and Proparco.
