IZTV is an upcoming Philippine free-to-air digital broadcast television network based in Pasig, with its studios located at the Citystate Centre in Shaw Boulevard. It serves as the flagship television property of Aliw Broadcasting Corporation. IZTV's flagship television station is currently on provisional authority which carries the digital UHF Channel 23 previously used by AMCARA Broadcasting Network (through blocktime with ABS-CBN Corporation) under DWAC-TV after its affiliate partner's broadcast franchise lapsed in 2020.[1]
The channel is currently on test transmission with programming composed of a live video feed from its flagship AM radio station DWIZ.
History[edit]
Prior history of channel 23[edit]
The original channel 23, DWAC-TV, was originally owned by Ermita Electronics Corporation (later sold and became AMCARA Broadcasting Network) and used to be the home of MTV Asia. It was later evolved into timeblock sharing with Studio 23 (owned by ABS-CBN), which became a full-time network in 2001 and lasted for 11 years before it was reformatted as a sports channel and became ABS-CBN Sports and Action (S+A). The station was shut down on May 5, 2020, as part of the revocation of ABS-CBN's franchise to operate broadcast stations.[2]
Re-award of channel[edit]
On January 5, 2022, the National Telecommunications Commission awarded the channel to Aliw Broadcasting Corporation under a provisional authority license.[3][4]
In May 2022, ahead of the 2022 Philippine general election, Aliw commenced its test broadcast using a live video feed of AM station DWIZ.[5]
