I Came Late
Welcome to the other side of the game.
I Came Late is Lavyeon's no-filter entrance into the rap world — a heavy, street-bred EP that don’t play nice. Recorded back in 2017 and finally let loose in 2024, this project ain’t about trends or gimmicks. It’s about pain, pressure, pride — and the real stories that come from living it, not just watching it.
Every beat bangs with that hard trap energy. Every verse? That’s Lavyeon telling it straight — raw and uncut. He ain’t rapping fairy tales; he’s putting real-life chapters on wax. Whether it’s making moves, holding his own, or trying to stay ten toes down in a cold world, you feel every word like it was written with blood and concrete.
Lavyeon produced and mixed the whole tape himself — no handouts, no shortcuts. Just a young OG putting in the work behind the boards and the mic. That’s why the sound hits different — it’s authentic, it's layered, it's built from experience.
This ain’t just an EP. I Came Late is a message to the game: “I might’ve showed up late... but I’m here now. And I ain't leaving.”
If you know, you know.

Background
"I Came Late" is the debut EP by South African hip-hop and trap artist Lavyeon, released independently on February 16, 2024, through his label TheDarkSide Records (Pty) Ltd. The project was originally recorded in 2017, during a raw and transformative time in the artist’s life. Delayed by circumstances including personal struggles, independent setup, and label-building, the EP's title reflects both Lavyeon's entry into the music industry and his refusal to be overlooked.
Composition
"I Came Late" fuses hard trap beats, gritty street lyrics, and personal storytelling, staying true to Lavyeon’s underground sound. The EP covers themes like survival, betrayal, pain, hustle, and personal growth. Lyrics blend Swati and English, capturing his identity as a Black South African artist with authentic street perspective. Lavyeon's minimalist yet emotional production supports raw bars and reflective verses — making it both personal and universal.
Recording
The entire EP was written, produced, and mixed by Lavyeon in a modest home studio setting in South Africa. Most tracks were recorded in 2017, giving the project a time-capsule feel. The final versions remained untouched for years until Lavyeon, now equipped with his own label and digital tools, decided to officially release the project in early 2024.
