I Don't Like Mondays: The True Story Behind Americas First School Shooting is a true crime book by the British-American writer and crime historian N Leigh Hunt about the school shooting at Cleveland Elementary School shooting (San Diego). The book was released on August 23, 2022, nearly 44 years after the event.[1] [2]
The book's title is a reference to a direct quote spoken by the perpetrator, Brenda Spencer to a reporter: " I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day. I just started shooting for the fun of it.”[3]
N Leigh Hunt is the great nephew of English critic, essayist and poet Leigh Hunt and had studied broadcast journalism at San Diego State University and criminology at University of Sheffield. Hunt is a member of the American Society of Criminology and received the honourable mention at the inaugural True Crime Awards.[4]
