"I Kind Of Relate" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Drake Bell. The song was released on March 18, 2024, after Bell's appearance on Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.
Background[edit]
The song reflects on Bell's difficult past,[1][2] referencing moments such as the sexual abuse Bell experienced from Brian Peck, who was the dialogue coach on All That and The Amanda Show.[3][4]
Music video[edit]
The music video for I Kind Of Relate begins with a young stand-in representing Bell (Rodrigo Alvarez), being led into a trailer by an old man, who closes the door behind them and the curtains so no one is able to see inside.[5] Following this is Bell, bleeding after a major car accident, reenacting an incident that happened in 2008.[6]
The video later shows Bell attending a meeting resembling an Alcoholics Anonymous session before the singer finds a new home in Mexico, where his music is more popular than in the United States.[7]
A set of Drake & Josh was recreated in the video and Bell plays a guitar similar to his character on the series.[1][4][8]
