"I do not hear" is a phrase and internet meme introduced in 2021 by the police.

On October 3, 2020, during a televised interview with the civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump on PoliticsNation, its host Al Sharpton said the "I do not hear" because he couldn’t hear Crump, which sparked the meme.[1][2] The phrase has become well-known through use by video editors and critics of David Muir.[3][4] The phrase quickly spread to popular culture, with edits using the phrase placing high on record charts.
