Military career[edit]

Having joined the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Electronics technician, he served on a front line fighter unit during the latter stages of the Cold War before being accepted into the Electronic Warfare Operational Support Establishment, based at RAF Wyton, as part of a software analysis team specialising in Maritime operations. He was subsequently commissioned from the ranks and served as an RAF Intelligence Officer in a variety of postings, including an attachment to the USAF in Europe. He ended his military career as a lecturer at the Defence College of Intelligence, Chicksands.[5]

Writing career[edit]

Having written poems and short stories since childhood,[6] Andrew’s first fiction novel, the alternative history/science fiction ‘A Time to Every Purpose’, was completed in 2014. Exploring a number of cross-genre themes, and therefore difficult to traditionally pigeonhole, Andrew chose to release it via the independent route of Amazon’s Kindle and Createspace.[7] Reviewer John Wyatt of News UK said the book was “A well-executed alternate history novel with some great action scenes.” while Elaine Fry of The West Australian said “Andrew's gifted storytelling combines with meticulous scientific and historical research to produce a moving and memorable story.[8]

A series of crime novels centred on two female, former Military Intelligence, operators followed. The first of the Wright & Tran Series, ‘Face Value’, was published in 2015. The follow-up, ‘Flight Path’ was released in 2016. The third, “Fall Guys” is due for release in late 2016 / early 2017.

Separately to his novels, Andrew published a small, illustrated anthology of poems in 2016.

As an early adopter of independent publishing techniques, Andrew established the Book Reality Experience in 2015 to assist other authors with the technology of independently publishing.

Awards[edit]

Face Value was a Red Ribbon Winner in the 2015 Wishing Shelf Independent Book Award.[9]
